Olympic Rice Crispy Treats

This is the easiest Olympic snack to make. You simply need Rice Crispy Treats (homemade or store bought) and m&m's.

Make little cups or piles of m&m's in blue, brown, red, yellow and green.  Press the candy with the m's facing down.

I made a huge pan full of these treats for Christian to take to the church youth group meeting tonight.

Substitute Teaching 1st Grade Religion Class This Week

This week the class is learning about St. Patrick, Holy week and Easter. Here are some fun things that I made the class this week!

I made these little St. Patrick's day cookies for the class out of Milanos!

I used Mint Milano's.

Using some white chocolate tinted green dip the top third of the cookie into the green chocolate. I use gel food coloring - it gives a deeper color.

Dip the bottom half of the cookie into some melted white chocolate. Put the rest of the melted chcolate into a zipper top bag and snip off a very small corner and use it to make the white cross on the green hat and add a small drop to adhere mini chocolate chips for the eyes and nose.  Let the cookies completely dry before stacking them.

I also thought it might be fun to add coconut to the white beard. Sadly I was out of coconut.

I made these little Easter treats for the kids to take home. The bracelet is from Hobby Lobby.

I simply added the bracelet and a little Rice Crispy treat into a little bag and tied them with a ribbon.

The kids loved the little take home treat. We did lots of crafts, coloring, reading and activities! I come home so tired! First graders have a lot of energy.

I started preparing for the class - with a bag of Andes Candy, bag of shamrock pipe cleaner pins, tuperware with St. Patrick cookies, coloring sheets, cups for milk and Irish napkins. I set everything up on the dining room table (we usually eat in the kitchen). #prepared

Sheep Rice Crispy Treats

This week I am teaching the lesson of the Good Shepard (John 10:11-18) so I made the kids some little sheep treats.  These were so easy to make! I actually had everything at my house that I needed for this project.

Supply List:

Rice crispy treats

white chocolate

 Jet puffed mallow bits

large round piece of chocolate

candy eyes

pink flower sprinkle

Directions:

Melt the white chocolate.  I used store-bought Rice Crispy treats (shh! Don't tell anyone). I cut each Rice Crispy treat in half and laid them out on parchment paper.

Dip each Rice Crispy treat into the melted white chocolate and immediately sprinkle them with the Jet-Puffed Mallow Bits.

The Mallow Bits can be found in the baking aisle or near the hot chocolate in the grocery store.

Using some melted white chocolate glue the candy eyes and pink nose onto the round piece of chocolate. In a pinch you could use a Hershey's Kiss with the point cut off. Then "glue" the little face onto the sheep body with some additional melted chocolate.

The kids loved these treats. And they were a great reminder of our Good Shepard lesson.

It's All About The Bling

I found these blinged out rhinestone lollipop sticks at Hobby Lobby and they elevate my simple Rice Crispy Treats to a whole new level! My Rice Crispy treats are ready for the holidays!

I am going to go back up and pick up some more of these lollipop sticks and use them for some sort of Valentine's Day project! Merry Christmas everyone!

Autumn Themed Rice Crispy Treats

This is a really easy project to make. You can use store bought or homemade Rice Crispy treats. I cut the Rice Crispy treats into 2-inch squares.

To make these cute treats you will need:

Rice Crispy Treats

Chocolate melts

Lollipop sticks

Autumn themed sprinkles

Cellophane bags

Coordinating ribbon

Parchment paper  or Silpat Pad

Melt the chocolate and lay the Rice Crispy Treats out on the parchment paper. Dip the top of the lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and twist it into the Rice Crispy Treats.

One the lollipop stick is set - dip the top of the Rice Crispy Treat into the melted chocolate and add a few sprinkles onto the warm chocolate. Set the Rice Crispy treat on the parchment paper to set.

Once the chocolate is set - package the each Treat into a cellophane or plastic bag and tie with the coordinating ribbon.

I made these fun treats to bring to my tennis match tomorrow. it is the perfect size for an after match sweet. These would also be a great treat for the classroom, sports team. They would also make cute place cards for Thanksgiving dinner.

Baseball Snack

Tonight was our turn to bring snacks for the baseball team. We are planning on ordering pizza during the sixth inning and picking it up during the seventh inning.  The boys (13 and 14 years old) are really hungry after a game!

I bought some mini sodas, plates and napkins. But I had to make the boys some treats! I almost always make my baseball cookies. I make a round sugar cookie and once they have cooled I frost them with melted white chocolate.

Once the white chocolate has set - I add some red food coloring to the remaining melted white chocolate and put the red chocolate in a zipper top bag. Squeeze the red icing to the end of a corner and snipe off a tiny hole. Pipe the red laces onto the baseball. The red laces don't have to be perfect - the boys eat them so fast!

Once the chocolate icing has set. I like to package the baseballs into cellophane bags and tie them with a ribbon.

I also made some little Rice Crispy Treats.

Using homemade or store bought Rice Crispy Treats - cut them into tiny squares. Using some icing or little melted chocolate glue the little icing baseball mitt onto the Rice Crispy Treat. I bought the little icing mitt at Hobby Lobby.

I decided to add lollipop sticks, they wedge perfectly into the Rice Crispy Treat. Then package them with little plastic bags and tie them with a ribbon.

I hope this inspires you the next time you bring snacks for the sports team.

Star Rice Crispy Treats

Every so often I am asked to be the substitute Religion teacher. I usually have a little notice before I teach - so that I can make plans for my son's carpool and plan the lesson.

I always bring a little treat (or bribe) for good behavior. Tomorrow I am teaching an Advent lesson to 4th graders.

So I made some Star Rice Crispy treats on lollipop sticks. Because lollipop sticks always bring your treat to the next level.

I bought this giant Rice Crispy at Target.

Using a star cookie cutter I cut out a bunch of stars. The I melted some light blue chocolate melts from Once the chocolate is melted stick the top of the lollipop stick into the chocolate and wedge it into the star.

Using the back of a spoon I smoothed the top of the star with the melted chocolate. Then I sprinkled it with a few shakes of blue sprinkles and some white pearl sprinkles.

Let everything dry and then package them in cellophane and tie with a coordinating ribbon.

The perfect treat! Or bribe!.

Basketball Rice Crispy Treats For the Basketball Team

These were super simple to make because I used store bought Rice Crispy Treats. I was under a time crunch - so I simply did not have enough time to make the Rice Crispy Treats.

Remove the wrappers from the Rice Crispy Treats and set them out on apiece of parchment paper.

Using a rolling pin flatten out each Rice Crispy Treat and cut out the flattened treat with a round cookie cutter.

Melt the orange Wilton candy melts and spread  the melted chocolate over the Rice Crispy Treat - then sprinkle with some orange sugar.

Melt some milk chocolate and put the melted chocolate into a small zipper bag. Twist the chocolate to one end and snip a very small hole. Pipe the basketball lines - the lines don't need to be perfect because the boys eat these in thirty seconds flat.

Rice Crispy Treat Heart Lollipops

Today I made some sweet little Rice Crispy treat lollipops. I was looking in my Valentine craft box for a mini heart cookie cutter because in a few days I want to make homemade conversation hearts. And I found one and decided to use it to make some sweet little lollipops.

To make these lollipops your will need:

Rice Crispy treats - homemade or store bought

Lollipop sticks

Parchment paper

Pink chocolate tabs

Mini heart cookie cutter

Large heart sprinkle

Little plastic bags

Coordinating ribbon

Using your mini heart cookie cutter - cut out a bunch of little hearts. Place the little hearts on parchment paper and melt one cup of the pink chocolate tabs. Put the end of the lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and wiggle it into the bottom of the heart.

Using a small appetizer knife I spread the top of each heart with the melted pink chocolate and topped it with a large heart sprinkle. Let dry.

Now you can package the sweet little lollipops into plastic bags and tie them with a coordinating ribbon.

These would be a great classroom or sports team treat. I make little Valentine treat bags and pass them out to my neighbors.

This week I am going to try to make homemade conversation hearts - hopefully they will turn out perfect and be blog worthy.

Rice Crispy Treats with a Snowflake

I can't stop making these mini Rice Crispy treats on a lollipop stick. I made these for a church function. And I think they will be a big hit!

I recently made these in a fall theme. You can use a wide variety of sprinkles. On these I just used one simple snowflake sprinkle.

If you need detailed directions on how to make these - just pop over the fall themed Rice Crispy Treat post.

They are so simple and inexpensive to make and the lollipop stick and ribbon make a unique presentation. And you know what they say - presentation is everything.

Fall Themed Rice Crispy Treats on Lollipop Sticks

These were super easy to make because I used store bought Rice Crispy Treats and cut them in half.

Then melt some chocolate and stick the lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and then into the Rice Crispy Treat. Once the chocolate has hardened dip the whole Rice Crispy Treat into the melted chocolate and sprinkle with fall themed sprinkles.

I place the lollipops on parchment paper to dry.

Once they are completely dry - place them into little bags and tie them with a little twine.

I made 14 Rice Crispy Treat lollipops in about one half hour. Then I cleaned up and set out my packaging supplies and about 45 minutes later I was able to package the treats. I actually was making these for the Habitat for Humanity boutique. So I wanted to package them in a really cute manner so I tied a little bow.

To recap for this project you need -

Rice Crispy Treats - store bought or homemade

Chocolate melting tabs

Fall themed sprinkles

Lollipop sticks

Parchment paper

Small plastic bags

Twine or fall colored ribbon

This is a cute Thanksgiving or fall themed party favor or place setting idea. Everyone loves Rice Crispy Treats! You can buy everything you need except for the Rice Crispy Treats at a craft store.

Olympic Rice Crispy Treats

I made these cute little Olympic treats today. A 12 year old boy (my son Christian) was my taste tester!

We love watching the Olympics!

Using a homemade or store bought Rice Crispy treat (I used store bought - our secret okay?) just press m&m's into the sticky treat. Press the m&m with the printed side face down.

This m&m idea would also look cute on top of cupcakes! What is your favorite Olympic sport to watch?

Neapolitan Rice Crispy Treats

I saw these Neapolitan Rice Crispy Treats on Pinterest. When I clicked on the Pinterest link it took me to the Erin Cooks website and she got the recipe also via Pinterest from The Partiogist. They are both great blogs! I knew that I had to make them! And they were really easy to make!

This recipe made a ton - these would be perfect to bring to for a BBQ or picnic.

Ingredients:

Vanilla Layer

3 tablespoons butter
1 10 oz. package of mini marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Chocolate Layer

3 tablespoons butter
1 10 oz. package of mini marshmallows
6 cups of Cocoa Krispies cereal

Strawberry Layer

3 tablespoons of butter
1 10 oz. package of strawberry marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Directions:

Line a 9 x 13 metal pan with high sides - with foil. Then spray the foil liberally with cooking spray.

To make the vanilla layer -  melt the butter in a large pan and add the marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Quickly stir in the cereal. Stir until the Rice Krispies are completely coated. Spray a spatula with cooking spray and firmly press the mixture into the prepared pan. Put the pan in the refrigerator. Wash the pan and spatula.

To make the chocolate layer - melt the butter in the same large pan and add the marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Quickly stir in the Cocoa Krispies cereal. Stir until the cereal is completely coasted and press the chocolate mixture firmly on top of the vanilla layer using a spatula coated with cooking spray. Put the pan back into the refrigerator. Wash the pan and spatula.

To make the strawberry layer - melt the butter in the same large pan and add the strawberry marshmallows. I also added a few drops of pink food coloring. Then add the cereal and stir until everything is completely coated. Press the strawberry mixture firmly on top of the chocolate layer. Put the pan back into the refrigerator.

After a few hours - I turned the Rice Krispy treats on to a cutting board.

Cut them in to rectangles and then into squares.

I love the layered look of these treats!

I hope you decide to make these easy and fun treats!
