S'more Tart

We love s'mores! However, we are experiencing a thick marine layer, early morning drizzle and June gloom. So instead of making s'mores in the backyard fire pit I made an indoor s'more treat.

This tart is messy and gooy just like a fire pit s'more!

Ingredients:

crust:

3/4 cup confectioners sugar

1 1/2 cups flour

3/4 cup butter, softened

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

toppings:

1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs

5 regular sized Hershey bars

4 cups mini marshmallows

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the crust ingredients in a medium bowl. Just mix with a wooden spoon until the dough starts to come together. Then press the dough into a tart pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

When the tart shell comes out of the oven - evenly sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs over the crust.

Start breaking the Hershey bars into little bars and start setting them on top of the graham cracker crumbs.

And finally add the mini marshmallows over the Hershey bars.

Put the tart back into the 350 degree oven for 5 to 7 minutes until the marshmallows are lightly browned.

Let cool to room temperature before slicing. This would be awesome drizzled with some melted chocolate or carmel sauce.

S'more Desserts in Little Jars

A few weeks ago on vacation we had an awesome s'more dessert in jar. So a few weeks ago I made some little s'more jars for a pool party and the boys loved them!

The jars had 4 layers:

1. graham craver crumbs mixed with a little butter

2. chocolate pudding

3. marshmallow fluff

4. mini chocolate chips and broken pieces of graham crackers

The layers look really pretty from the side.

I added a little label on the top of each jar!

Extra tip - when I was filling the jars I set them on a dish towel so that the crumbs and pudding didn't get all over my counter.

Baseballl Themed S'more Kits

March 31st is Easter Sunday and Baseball Opening Day. I am feeling a little lazy this year and instead of getting all of my pastel Easter decorations out - I am having an Opening Day brunch on Easter Sunday. After Mass on Easter Sunday our families are coming over for brunch. I will post a lot of pictures! I made these little baseball themed S'more kits for party favors.

Buy the snack sized Hershey bars and wrap them in baseball themed wrapping paper or scrapbook paper.

Then you add the 2 graham crackers, two large marshmallows and the baseball wrapped Hershey bar into a plastic bag.

Instead of tying a ribbon at the top I decided to staple a folded piece of the wrapping paper.

These would be a cute treat for the team or a party favor at the end of season party.  They would be a fun snack to serve at a tailgate party. And you can change this idea for any other sport by simply changing the wrapping paper.

I hope your team has a winning season!

No Bake S'more Bars

I was checking my twitter and Tidy Mom tweeted about some back-to-school snacks. So I clicked on her link which was a round up of ideas from a bunch of different blogs and was immediately drawn to the recipe of S'more Bars. My family loves S'mores - but I was really attracted to the words "no bake."

So the No Bake S'more Bar recipe was from The Domestic Rebel. And I must tell you that her recipes are fantastic. I wanted to make at least ten of her recipes!

Ingredients:

30 Golden Oreo's, finely crushed

1 bag of white chocolate chips

1 can, 7 ounce sweetened condensed milk

1 package of Dove milk chocolates, roughly chopped

1 and 1/2 cup Kraft Mallow Bites

1 cup miniature chocolate chips

Directions:

Line an 8 x8 pan with foil and be sure to extend the foil over the sides of the pan. Lightly mist the foil with some cooking spray and set aside.

In a very large bowl (because we are going to add everything in this bowl) microwave the white chocolate chips for 1 minute and stir until melted. Pour in the condensed milk and stir again. Now comes the fun part! Add the cookie crumbs, stir. Add the chopped chocolates, stir! And add 1 cup of the mallow bites and stir.

Once everything is combined spread the mixture into the prepared pan. Press the mixture down and evenly into the corners.. Sprinkle the top with the remaining Mallow Bites and mini chocolate chips. Gently press the toppings into the bars.

Put the pan into the fridge and clean up!

Using the foil handles remove the bar mixture from the pan. Place on a cutting board and start cutting into bite sized squares.

These were so easy and unbelievably good! I bought everything I needed at my local grocery store. If you have a problem finding the Kraft Mallow Bites I know that they have them at Target. Here is a picture of the container.

It is the same size container that Kraft uses for the Parmesan cheese.

My son licked the bowl! He also unwrapped all of the Dove chocolates and crushed the Oreo's. Of course he ate a few chocolates and Oreo's - but then he went to basketball practice and probably burned all those calories and more! Oh to be a kid again!

Thank you Domestic Rebel for a great recipe! My family loved it!

Halloween S'more Peep Treats

Today I made some Halloween S'more Peep treats. I know that many of you made these with Easter Peeps.

In a plastic bag you add two Graham Cracker squares, a Hershey bar and a ghost Peep. I recommend the ghost Peep instead of the pumpkin Peep. The ghost Peeps pull apart easier and fit perfectly next to the Hershey bar.

On the back of the Graham Cracker I put a piece of orange paper with the s'more directions.

Isn't this an easy idea? Make these for all your Peeps.

Another tip is to tie your plastic bag with an orange ribbon. I happened to find the orange polka dot ribbon in my ribbon box. Score! At first I tied the bags with black ribbon and it made the s'more kits look a little blah. The orange ribbon really makes the treat POP!

I also used an orange paper to write the directions. I cut the paper with my scallop paper cutter and it was almost the exact size of the Graham Cracker! I just love it when things work out perfectly! Boo!

S'more Miniature Pies

Today is National S'more Day! So in honor of this most delectable holiday I made some miniature S'more Pies. These are super simple to make and transport easily to picnics.

You will just need some pie crust, chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs and miniature marshmallows.

Cut some circles out of pie crust (homemade or store bought).

On top of each circle of pie crust - just add a few chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, along with a few pinches of graham cracker crumbs.

Now whisk an egg and use a small pastry brush to seal the two pie crusts together. I used a fork to make the edges look pretty and added a few fork pricks in the middle of each pie.

I baked the miniature pies on lightly greased cookies sheets at 350 degrees for about 17 minutes or until the pies are just a little golden brown.

S'more Trail Mix

Every year August 10th is National S'more Day. However, I thought (and I don't why) that National S'more day was August 14th. So my S'more posts might run a few days extra - since I had the wrong date.

You will just need a few items to make S'more Trail Mix.

In a large bowl - add approximately one half of the box of Golden Grahams.

Add the entire bag of miniature marshmallows.

Also add the entire bag of chocolate chips.

My son never wants to help me in the kitchen. However, he did come and taste test the S'more Trail Mix!

I found some brown ribbon, bags and labels in my craft closet. I filled the bags with Trail Mix and tied them with the brown ribbon and put the little sticker on the bag. What an easy project!

This is a fun snack to bring to the park or beach. Make sure you keep the Trail mix in your cooler on hot days so that the chocolate doesn't melt.

S'more Lollipops

If you have a fire pit in your backyard (yes, I have a fire pit) you always have marshmallows, chocolate bars and graham crackers in your pantry.

My kids love S'mores. So I decided to experiment with S'more lollipops.

First I mashed a baggie full of graham crackers with a kitchen mallet.

Then I put lollipop sticks in the middle of each marshmallow.

I put the graham cracker crumbs in a bowl and melted some chocolate.

I coated about half the marshmallow in chocolate.

Then I rolled the chocolate covered marshmallow in the graham cracker crumbs.

My kids loved them!
