Homemade Holiday Vases

Save your used soup or other cans - remove the labels and wash out the debris. Then you can throughly clean them in the dishwasher.

I often make little bouquets of flowers in these tin can vases. All you need is a glue gun and a roll of twine.

Just add some glue to the top of the can and wind the twine around the can four or five times. Add another line of glue and wrap around four or five times again. Keep doing this process until the entire can is covered in twine.

Once the can is completely covered intwine - glue gun a contrasting ribbon around the middle of the can. Then glue gun a silk poinsettia and leaf on top of the ribbon.

These cans make perfect holiday vases but they could also be used for treats like chocolate covered pretzels or candy canes. I am going to use mine for little floral bouquets. Hopefully I will remember to post the picture with the flowers in the vases.

Rope Tin Can Vases - Easy DIY

Everyday my husband goes to Home Depot.  I am making dinner and he yells at me that he is going to Home Depot - he will be right back.

We are packing up to go to the beach - and he yells at me that he is going to Home Depot and he will be right back.

He comes home from work with a Home Depot bag. What does he buy? I do not know or care. But I saw some cute rope vases, tin cans and coasters on Pinterest made from twine/rope. So.......the next time he shouted at me that he was running to Home Depot - I asked him to bring me home some heavy twine.

For this project you will need:

Twine (from Home Depot!)

Tin cans - labels removed and cleaned

Glue gun - glue sticks

Scissors

A piece of cardboard or a paper plate

Start at the bottom and glue a piece of twine and keep wrapping the twine around and gluing every so often. Then I wrap around again. I did this on a large piece of cardboard - so that I wouldn't make a big mess on my table or countertop.

I made three rope can vases in about 30 minutes and used up all of the twine. No worries my husband will be going to Home Depot again tomorrow and I can ask him to get me a few more rolls of twine.

I decided to fill my vases with Sunflowers. I saw some beautiful Sunflowers today at Sprouts and decided that they would look cute for a Labor Day BBQ.

Don't these look cute? These would make wonderful party favors for your guests to take home.

Flowers for Joy's Birthday Dinner

I made some pretty little jars filled with white flowers for Joy's birthday dinner.  I save my pasta sauce jars. I rinse them out - remove the label with hot soapy water and then pop them in the dishwasher.

Once the jars are clean - I take some ribbon and hot glue a thick piece of ribbon around the middle of the jar. I also added three little adhesive pearls to further decorate the jar.

Almost all of the flowers were purchased from Trader Joe's. A few sprigs of Rosemary and some large leaves are from my backyard garden.

These flowers have a light floral smell. They would make a perfect cologne for Jo Malone!

I made eight of these jars of all white flowers with a little greenery - they will be used to decorate the center of the table and then whoever wants to can take a jar home. These jars fit perfectly into the cup holder in almost everyones car! 

Party Favors for Lisa's Birthday Lunch

I made some little party favors for a birthday lunch that I am going to tomorrow.  Some little floral bouquets and small bags of Churro Bites. I can't stop making Churro Bites. Click on the Cinco de Mayo label (the labels are on the right hand side) and you can find the easy recipe!

I will start with the little floral bouquets. I put them in little jelly jars and decorated the jelly jars with ribbon and adhesive pearls. I bought the flowers at Trader Joe's.

Using some double stick tape I adhered the ribbon the the jelly jar and added three adhesive pearls. The ribbon and pearls just give the bouquet that "something extra."

Everyone can take the jelly jar bouquet home by placing it in the cup holder in their car! Bouquets in the same color palette always look really classic.

Is it a party favor - if it doesn't include a sweet treat? So I put some Churro Bites into little bags and tied them with coordinating ribbon that matched the bouquet ribbon.

But wait! I decided to jazz up the Churro Bite packaging by adding the adhesive pearls to the center of the ribbon and on the sides. Because I like things a little jazzy!

I hope this gives you some fun ideas for the next time you host a party or just want to bring a treat to a restaurant party. If you don't have any jelly jars - save your soup cans - remove the labels and add the the ribbon or some twine- it will be adorable!
