Another Back-to-School Treat Bookmarks for Meals on Wheels

I made some cute and quick bookmarks for an additional September treat. These would also be a fun book club treat or a homemade treat to add to a book gift.

I simply purchased some pre-made bookmark tags at Michael's. These also come in white.

On each tag I wrote Bookmark/Hall Pass and tied a little coordinating ribbon.

I found this cute polka dot ribbon at Michael's. I think the polka dots add a fun element.

Along with the pencil treats - these will be a fun little September treat for Meals on Wheels.

Today is National Book Lovers Day!

I am a book lover! I ordered four books a few days ago from Amazon - they are scheduled to deliver tomorrow and I can not wait. I ordered two cookbooks and two novels!

I have books in small stacks all over my house. Because I don't have a library the neat little stacks of books all over my house became part of the decor.

I often combine my book stacks with frames and candles.

So now you know - I am a book lover and I didn't even show half of my book stacks! Happy National Book Lovers Day!

Valentine Hearts Made From Old Book Pages

I have seen various Christmas ornaments made from old book pages and I wanted to make some for Valentine decorations.

Wouldn't these make cute decorations for your book club meeting?

For this project you will need:

 Old book pages

Heart shaped cookie cutter

Scissors

Red embroidery thread

Red marker

Large embroidery needle

Cotton balls

Small heart shaped button

Directions:

Trace a bunch of hearts with your cookie cutter and a red marker onto the old book pages. Cut out the hearts.

Thread your embroidery needle with a long strand (using all six threads) slowly and carefully using a running stitch start stitching the two hearts together. You must be very careful when sewing paper that you don't rip the paper.

Once your heart is 75% sewn together add a cotton ball between the two hearts and finish sewing the heart.

Sew the little button at the top of the heart.

These would make a cute garland.

I found making these really relaxing.

Are You Reading 50 Shades of Grey?

Here are some fun party favor ideas for your book club or friends who love these books.

I read the first book for a book club and hated the way it ended. Okay - I said it! I will keep the majority of my other opinions on this book to myself. Although I really didn't care for the writing so I am thinking of finding out how the third book ends via friends and the internet. Therefore, I don't have to subject myself to  reading the next two books.

Wrap some candy bars (these are Snickers) in silver or gray wrapping paper and decorate with a simple rhinestone.

Another fun idea is to find some grey or silver nail polish and place it in a cellophane bag and tie with a silver ribbon. So simple and such a fun themed party favor for the book club!

Fun Book Club Ideas

Are you in a Book Club? Would it be fun to give your Book Club members a party favor? Or display some cute items at your Book Club meeting? Here are some ideas!

This month Robin started a book club and picked the book - 50 Shades of Grey. She has always wanted to be in a book club! So I used her name throughout the post!

So I bought some grey/silver candy and put it in a cellophane bag. Then stapled some silver paper on the top and added a tag, bow and rhinestones.

I happened to have the paper, ribbon and rhinestones in my craft cabinet. But you could easily buy the paper, ribbon and rhinestones at Michael's or Hobby Lobby for a few dollars.

This is a terrific idea and you could also use regular popcorn. This would be a great idea for a kids Book Club! I have also made some popcorn drizzled with melted chocolate. Check out the Easy easter Popcorn post dated 4/1/12 for the recipe.

Once again - I was just using supplies from my craft cabinet. But this would look cute in primary colors as well.

I love sugary/sour candies. So I used some sour worms! This is also a perfect idea for a kids Book Club!

I wished I had some red or pink rhinestones!  Or worm stickers. But I was trying to use items from my craft cabinet. If you don't have any scrapbook paper - you could also use wrapping paper.
