Felt Candy Corn For Meals on Wheels

I made 50 of these little felt candy corns for Meals on Wheels. I thinks they would make an awesome banner on a long ribbon or tied onto a gift box for an October birthday gift.

Supply List:

white felt

orange felt

yellow felt

orange thin ribbon

yellow embroidery thread

white embroidery thread

orange embroidery thread

scissors

needle

stuffing or cotton balls

template from www.feltwithlovedesigns.com

Directions:

Cut out all of the pieces using the Halloween template from Felt with Love Designs.  She actually  sewed a happy face onto her candy corns.  Since I was making 50 candy corns I  had to delete that step.

Using the orange thread sew the orange piece onto the front piece of the candy corn using a running stitch.

The sides of the orange don't need to be sewn - just the top and bottom.

Sew the yellow piece overlapping the orange piece. Just sew the top of the yellow piece using the yellow thread and a running stitch.

Since I was making 50 of these little candy corns - I worked in batches.

Once the front piece is sewn with both the yellow and orange - you will need a solid pice of white triangle felt, a 8-inch piece of ribbon and a little stuffing or cotton ball.

Sew the front piece to the back piece using white thread  and a blanket stitch- before sewing the candy corn shut sew the ribbon into a loop and add a little stuffing or a cotton ball.

I feel so organized that I completed the Meals on Wheels Halloween treat in September!

Candy Corn Balls

These little candy corn balls are simple to make and really cute to make for classroom or team treats.

When buying the Christmas ornaments to put the candy corn in - buy the plastic ornaments instead of the glass. The little silver top can be taken off and filled with candy corn.

I used this mini candy corn to fill the plastic balls and I bought it at Target.

These candy corn balls can be used to decorate a chandelier or staircase.

I don't like Halloween decorations that are bloody and scary. I prefer pretty and playful decorations.

The entry way hutch - this year I am all about the orange! Last year I only bought white pumpkins!

I am loving the orange coordinating with the blue this year! Happy Halloween!

Big Chocolate Chip Cookies Decorated with Candy Corn and m&m's

I found this fun recipe on the baking website Crazy for Crust. I adore this baking blog - it had so many fun ideas.

Ingredients:

1 stick butter, melted

1/4 cup sugar

2/3 cup brown sugar

1 egg

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 1/4 cups chocolate chips, divided

1 teaspoon shortening

Directions:

Line a 9 inch round cake pan with foil and use a cooking spray to coat the foil.

Pour the melted butter and both sugars into a stand mixer fit with the paddle attachment. Beat on low until everything is combined. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.

Mix in the egg and vanilla - mix until combined.

Mix in the dry ingredients - baking soda, flour and salt.  remove the bowl from the mixer once everything is combined and stir in 1 1/4 cup of chocolate chips.

Press the mixture into the prepared pan.

Chill in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours.

Tic Tock it has been two hours. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake the cookie for 20 minutes.

Let the cookie cool for 20 minutes. Remove the cookie from the pan using the foil. Then melt 1 cup of chocolate chips with the teaspoon of shortening.

Spread the melted chocolate over the cookie and decorate with candy corn and m&m's. Let the cookie sit on the counter for an hour. Then chill in the fridge for 1 /2 hour.

Cut the cookie into wedges to serve.

My son and husband loved this cookie! It can be made for any holiday - just by changing the candy colors!

Happy Halloween! I hope that everyone has a fun night!

Candy Corn Fudge

Yes, I love Candy Corn! I saw this recipe on Pinterest and of course I had to make it! The recipe came from somethingswanky, com and she has a lot of fun ideas - checkout her blog if you have a minute.

Ingredients:

6 cups of white chocolate  chips

2 cans sweetened condensed milk

Gel food coloring (yellow and orange)

Directions:

Line a 9 x 9 inch pan with parchment paper.

In a large saucepan combine the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk and heat on medium/low. Stir so that the chocolate chips melt and your mixture is smooth.

Pour 1/3 of the mixture into the prepared pan and chill for 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Turn the heat off the remaining fudge.

After 1/2 hour - reheat your chocolate mixture. Pour another 1/3 of the mixture into a bowl and whisk in the orange gel food coloring. Pour over the white chilled layer.

Turn the heat off the remaining fudge. Put the pan back in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour.

The last step for the day is to reheat the last of the chocolate. Whisk in the yellow food coloring and pour over the chilled orange layer.

I let my fudge chill overnight.

Turn your fudge onto a cutting board.

Using a sharp knife cut the fudge into 1/2 inch slices and then cut into diagonal slices.

You can cut them into large or small pieces. They would be really cute to decorate a cake or cupcakes.

This recipe made a ton of fudge! I packaged some up to bring to friends and neighbors.

I put some Candy Corn Fudge packages in my dining room. These would be super cute as classroom or sports team treats. They would be a fantastic Halloween party favor. They would be a cute addition to the Candy Corn Pajama party favor!

I love Candy Corn! What is your favorite candy?

Candy Corn Pajama Bottoms For the College Girls

I sent Noelle and six of her friends some Candy Corn Pajama Bottoms.

I am kind of obsessed with candy corn! And I wish I had bought myself a pair! They are so cute!

I rolled the pajamas and tied them with ribbon. They were on sale at Old Navy online for $5 each. But they were running a 30% off special - so I got them for a great deal!

I think the girls will really like these! They would also be a great Halloween or slumber party favor.

Candy Corn Balls

I made some Candy Corn Balls to hang from the dining room chandelier. Last year I made a huge candy corn garland to drape over the chandelier and it took me forever. This was a quick and easy project.

You will need:

Glass Christmas balls
Bags of candy corn
Coordinating ribbon

You can buy these glass balls at Michaels or Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section. They often go on sale or use a coupon. And they come in all different sizes.

I love the colors of candy corn! Then I used an orange and white polka dot ribbon that I already had in my craft box to hang the Candy Corn Balls.

This a close up picture of the candy corn ball and the ribbon hanger. This is a fun project to make with your kids.

Candy Corn Treats (with Candy Corn m&m's)

I noticed candy corn treats all over Pinterest. I wanted to do something original. I used m&m's in the candy corn package.

I bought the candy corn m&m's at Target. Hurry up and buy some before they are gone!

I am addicted to these clear tubes that I buy in the wedding aisle at Michael's (use a coupon). I have used them to package sunflower seeds for the baseball team and layer jelly beans at Easter time.

Project Items:

Clear plastic tubes
Candy corm m&m's
Scotch tape
Orange polka dot ribbon
Glue gun
Plastic candy corn

Directions:

Make the plastic tubes. Using tape to adhere the bottom cardboard.

Organize the candy corn m&m's into separate bowls according to color. Then start layering the colors into the clear plastic tubes. Layer the yellow,  then orange and finish with the white. Tape the top cardboard piece on top of the clear tube.

Using a glue gun adhere the plastic candy corn decoration on the top of the tube. Also using the glue gun adhere the little orange ribbon around the top. I bought the plastic candy corn decorations at Hobby Lobby (with a coupon) and the ribbon was already in my craft cabinet. I am pretty sure that the ribbon was from Michael's.

These make great party favors, treats for the classroom, team or neighbors! And this will just be one of my candy corn ideas - I have another idea that I am working on!

Keep checking back! Sign up to be a follower and I will love you forever!

Candy Corn Cookies

Using the Land o Lakes recipe I made some Sparkling Candy Corn Cookies. This recipe makes 15 dozen miniature cookies and each cookie is approximately 25 calories.

Recipe:

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 teaspoons freshly grated orange zest
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Orange paste or gel food color
Yellow paste or gel food color
3/4 cup sugar

Directions:

Line the bottom and sides of a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with plastic wrap. Set aside.

Combine butter and 1 cup of sugar in a large bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add egg, orange juice, orange zest and salt. Continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour and baking soda. Beat until well mixed.

Divide the dough into thirds. Press one-third of white dough evenly onto the bottom of prepared pan.

Add orange gel paste to the next third and mix until it is well blended. Press orange dough evenly over the white dough in the pan.

Take the final third of dough and tint it yellow. Place the yellow dough on top of the orange dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm (at least 2 hours or overnight.) I made my dough in the morning after carpool  - went to the mall with a girlfriend - came home and made the cookies before afternoon carpool. Yes, I can do all that!

Place 3/4 cup sugar in a shallow bowl. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Invert loaf pan to remove dough. Peel off plastic wrap. Cut loaf crosswise into 1/4-inch slices. Use a sharp knife to make the edges even and cut each slice into six wedges.

Place the candy corn cookies 1-inch apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until edges are firm and the bottoms are lightly browned.

Cool the cookies for 1 minute. Immediately place warm cookies in bowl with sugar, roll in sugar to coat.

Cool completely. Store in loosely covered container or package into little bags.

These cookies seem like a complicated ordeal. Although they were really simple and fun to make.

Candy Corn Garland

Today I made a Candy Corn Garland for my dining room chandelier. I Googled some sites about making Candy Corn Garlands and most of them suggested stringing the Candy Corn much like you would string popcorn at Christmas time. Then I read on the Homestories a2z blog It said that she used a glue gun to adhere the Candy Corn to twine. I have a glue gun! I have two different types of twine! Soooooo I decided to use the glue gun method.

While your glue gun is heating up - pour the Candy Corn in a bowl and separate the candy corn into two categories - the useable Candy Corn and the broken and misshapen Candy Corn into another pile.

Once I started glueing the Candy Corn to the twine - I realized that the backside of the garland was unsightly. Sooooo I had to glue the Candy Corn on the front of the twine and then flip it over and glue another piece of Candy Corn to the backside.

This took me a really long time, I had to take several breaks.

Do you see how the backside of the garland is messy? And I had to add another piece of Candy Corn to the backside.

When I was in the middle of the project I measured the garland - so that I knew how long I needed to make the garland.

Then I tied the top area of the garland with yellow satin ribbon and orange polka dot ribbon.
