Mom Sachets

I make these almost every year. They are the perfect Mother's Day party favor. I try to make them in different colors every year. They look really pretty in a basket or added to the top of a gift. Since they are all hand sewn they would be perfect for older kids to make.

Supply List:

Felt in a spring color

Coordinating embroidery thread

Coordinating button

Needle

Scissors

Two different sized heart cookie cutters

Black pen

Dried Lavender or other sachet filing


Directions:

Trace the hearts with a pen onto the felt. Each sachet needs two large hearts and one small heart.

I used this dried lavender to fill the sachets - I thought it was perfect with the purple felt.

On the small heart hand sew a MOM with a button for the "O." Then sew the small heart onto a big heart. Before the heart is completely sewn together add a tablespoon of the lavender.

Then sew the two large hearts together and before it is completely sewn shut add enough dried lavender to fill the heart and finish sewing closed.

These are so easy to make and a perfect party favor. Mom can put this in a drawer or linen cabinet.

Tennis Ball Sachets - Good Luck Treats for My Tennis Team

I made some tennis ball sachets. These will be good luck treats for my tennis team - our first matches are in two weeks. They can be put in tennis bags, linen cabinets, lingerie drawers or a suitcase. Basically they can be put anywhere that you want to smell pretty and fresh.

Supplies:

Yellow felt

Round cookie cutter

Black pen

White embroidery thread 

Embroidery needle

Scissors

Dried lavender

Cellophane bags

Coordinating ribbon

Tennis ball sticker

Directions:

Using your circle cookie cutter or a round glass - trace circles onto the yellow felt.

Carefully cut out the circles. You will need two circles for each sachet.

On half of the felt circles stitch the white lines of a tennis ball. These will be the top of the sachet.

Now stitch the top circle with the white tennis lines to the bottom blank piece of felt.

Before the tennis ball is sewn shut — add some dried lavender and continue sewing the tennis ball shut.

You should be able to buy dried lavender at any craft store or online.

Once all of the tennis balls are filled with dried lavender and sewn shut - it is time to package them!

I thought I had some yellow ribbon in my ribbon drawer. But I could not find any yellow ribbon. So I decided to use black ribbon. It makes a nice contrast with the yellow tennis ball.

I actually found some yellow tennis ball stickers while I was looking for ribbon. So I put the tennis ball sticker on an index card and cut around it and using double stick tape I adhered the sticker to the middle of the bow.

These can be made for any sport! I made these while I was watching the US Open. I am hoping that my favorites win - Roger and Maria.

Tennis Themed Sachets

I made some tennis themed sachets in honor of Wimbledon. My favorite Grand Slam is Wimbledon! I love the white tennis clothing and the grass courts. It just seems so lovely and refined.

I found some tennis themed buttons in my button box!

Or do you like this button better? When I go to craft/fabric stores with large button displays - I always come home with a bunch of buttons to use on craft projects or gift wrap.

Baseball Sachets

This would be a fun treat to make for all of the baseball moms! I started making them because I bought some baseball buttons on sale at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago! And I can't stop making sachets!

I gave a few of these to the team mom for Christian's baseball team.

Patterned Felt - Made into Sachets

I can't stop making sachets. I have been making them while I watch the French Open! 

I bought this cool patterned felt at Michael's. I think it was 8.99 for the package - but I had a 50% off coupon so it was only like $4.50!

I sewed  a little pink heart button in the middle of the small felt heart. Tonight I went through my button box and I found some really great buttons. I even found two different types of tennis buttons. I am hoping that Mademoiselle Mademoiselle Sharapova wins the French Open!

 During Wimbledon I like to make scones! I have been researching scone recipes both sweet and savory.

Buttons!

Buttons were on sale at Hobby Lobby last week! I stocked up and I won't need to buy buttons for a long time.

I decided to sew a few buttons to the top heart on some sachets.

The rhinestone crown looks super regal!

The anchor button looks fantastic on the blue felt.

I will be using some other buttons in upcoming craft projects - so keep checking back!

My New Favorite Heart Sachets

I have been fooling around with different combinations of felt hearts. This is my new favorite combination. The bright blue and emerald green felt with white embroidery thread.

For this project you will need:

2 colors of felt

black pen

2 different sized heart cookie cutters

scissors

embroidery thread

good sized needle

dried lavender 

Each sachet will need two large hearts and one small heart in a contrasting color. Trace the cookie cutters with the black pen on the felt and cut them out with sharp scissors.

Sew the contrasting felt heart onto one of the large hearts. Before the small heart is completely sewn add a little bit of dried lavender.

Now sew the two large hearts together with the little heart attached to the front and before the large hearts are completely sewn together add some more dried lavender.

I have just used a simple running stitch - but I have noticed some of the felt projects on Pinterest are using blanket stitches. So this week I am planning on trying to teach myself the blanket stitch.

Although I am partial to this running stitch. It is so simple and I can sew the running stitch while I watch the French Open. And the French Open starts this weekend yeah!

Tulip Felt Sachets

It was so hot yesterday - I just felt like sitting on the couch and watching television.  So I thought it would be a good time to experiment with making some more felt sachets. I have a lot of felt from various projects so I found a tulip cookie cutter and went to town.

For this project you will need:

felt

flower cookie cutter

black pen

scissors

embroidery thread

large needle

dried lavender 

Trace the cookie cutter on your felt and cut it out.

Then sew two felt pieces together. Before the tulip is sewn shut pour the dried lavender into the tulip.

These would look really cute tied onto a wrapped package and they smell fantastic. They are perfect for your lingerie drawer, suitcase or linen cabinet.

Mother's Day Sachets

I made some sachets for Mother's Day party favors.

They were really easy to make. I always find it relaxing to make crafts while I watch my favorite television shows.

To make this project you will need:

felt

embroidery thread

good sized needle

two different sized heart cookie cutters

black ballpoint pen

small buttons

dried flowers/potpourri 

Directions:

Using the black marker and two different sized cookie cutter - mark them out on the felt.

For each sachet you will need 2 large hearts and 1 small heart.

On the small heart write MOM in the middle of the heart.

I used cookie cutters to trace the hearts - but you could also make some cardboard patterns.

On the small heart - embroider the MOM. Use a small button for the "o". Then sew the small heart onto a big heart.

Now sew the two big hearts together. Before the hearts are sewn shut add the scented dried flowers.

I used a Lily of the Valley scented dried flowers to fill each of the hearts and they smell fantastic!

These are just meant to be fun little party favors that you can put in your lingerie drawer or linen cabinet.
