Felt Turkeys For Meals on Wheels

Because i was making 50 of these turkeys for Meals on Wheels I did not follow the tutorial with the pattern that I used. She used a blanket stitch on the feathers and a running stitch is easier and takes a lot less time to execute. Also she used tiny pieces of black felt for the eyeball and I used a black seed bead. However, I think mine came out super cute. I love them - they are so cheerful. They would also make an adorable garland. And would look so cute  on top of a See's candy stick or a pencil.

Directions:

Cut out all of the pieces you are going to need. I was making 50 of these felt turkeys so I was cutting the felt out for days.

Sew the yellow feather on top of the orange feather with a running stitch and white embroidery thread. Then using yellow thread add a running stitch around the orange feather. Set these aside.

On the front brown piece sew the white felt dot with a black seed bead on top using black thread and a small needle.

Sew the waddle onto the right side of the brown piece using red thread.

Using yellow thread sew the yellow beak over the top of the waddle.

Put a plain brown piece to cover the messy part of the front piece. Using a whip stitch tack both brown pieces to the front of the feathers. Leave the bottom of the brown pieces open, only sew the sides.

Turkey Oreo's

Every year I make my Turkey Oero's for after school snacks. They are a perfect snack!

You just need three ingredients - Pillsbury Thanksgiving Shape Sugar Cookies, canned frosting (vanilla or chocolate) and fall themed sprinkles.

Bake the cookies according to the package.

After the cookies have baked - let them cool for at least 15 minutes.

Then just put some frosting between two cookies and roll the edges in sprinkles. Isn't the easiest Thanksgiving recipe? You should make it - and enter my November contest!

Turkey Oreo's

These Oreo Turkey's are all over Pinterest and Google under Turkey Treats! However, I didn't want to run to the store to get mini red jelly beans or mini Reese's Peanut Butter cups. So I decided to make do with what I had in my cupboard. And that is what I want you to do!

First take a Double Stuff Oreo and carefully put 5 pieces of candy corn next to each other. Now break a pretzel stick into small pieces and poke two pieces at the bottom of the Oreo.

Note: I always have Oreo's and pretzel's for Christian's school lunch.  And I had extra candy corn left over from my Halloween projects (remember the garland)?

I used some yellow icing to adhere two Cocoa Puffs ( you know - the cereal) and a piece of candy corn with the white point broken off for the nose! Then I put two little white frosting dots on top of the Cocoa Puffs.

These would be a cute treat to bring to your child's classroom or to make a big tray for the kids table at your Thanksgiving celebration.

Gobble! Gobble! I think one of my Turkeys is cross-eyed!

Donut Hole Turkey's

Today we made some turkey's with donut holes, candy corn and Oreo's .  We used melted chocolate to "glue" the feathers and nose on the donut hole.

We took the Oero's apart and used the frosted side to place the candy corn about half way around the Oero to simulate the look of feathers.

Now use melted chocolate to glue the feather Oero to the back of the donut hole and also to glue a candy corn nose on top of the donut hole. Let dry for at least one hour.

Aren't these cute! So easy to make and fun to eat!

If and only if you have time - it is fun to dip your candy corn in chocolate! Yum!

Turkey Party Favors

These party favors are really easy to make once you find all of the craft supplies. I went to Joanne Fabrics and Michael's to find everything I needed.

You will need:

Brown Tulle
Brown Pipe Cleaners
Red Felt
Fall Themed m&m's

If you want to make these with your kids on Thanksgiving morning or the day before Thanksgiving - buy all of the craft supplies and Fall themed candy at least a week before Thanksgiving. Trust me - you will not be able to find what you need when you are stressed out the day before Thanksgiving.

Isn't this cute! And so easy to make!  You could use candy corn or nuts instead of the m&m's.

Cut the tulle into a six inch square. The easiest way to do this is to cut a thick piece of cardboard into a six inch square and use it as a pattern. Then place two tablespoons of candies or nuts in the center of the tulle.

Gather the tulle at the top and twist the pipe cleaner around the top several times. Then bend the top of the pipe cleaner into a head shape and add the piece of red felt for the waddle with a dab of glue.

These would look cute on the dessert table or lined up down the center of the Thanksgiving table.  I also think they would be a fun classroom or sports team treat.
