Lemon and Rosemary Soap - A Baby Shower Party Favor

I made some homemade soap for a baby shower party favor.  The soap was super simple to make and decorate.

Supply List:

Goats milk soap bar

Sharp knife

Pyrex measuring cup

Soap molds

Fresh rosemary

Lemon zest from large lemons

Parchment paper

Scissors

Twine

Paper roses

Glue gun and glue sticks

Directions:

Place some fresh rosemary into each soap mold.

Cut the goats milk bar into chunks and microwave in 30 second intervals. Once the soap is melted stir in the lemon zest. And pour the lemon zest soap into the molds.

Quick tips - I placed the molds on a large kitchen towel. And the goats milk soap base is sold at Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

Once the soap is completely hard. Pop the soap bar out of the mold.

The soap smells awesome.

Once the soap is ready to be packaged - start cutting parchment paper into strips. 

Wrap the parchment paper around the soap then wrap the twine around the bar of soap several times.

Then hot glue the paper flower onto the twine knot. These bars of soap would also make a wonderful hostess gift.

I am going to put these on a table by the front door. I have an empty picture frame and I am going to write in it "from our shower to yours."

Indianapolis 500 Party Favor for Meals on Wheels

I made some Indianapolis 500 party favors for Meals on Wheels.

I found these bright colored bubbles at Party City.

I found the checkerboard  duct tape at Hobby Lobby. But I know that they also sell it at Michaels. 

I wrapped the checkered tape around the bubbles.  Such an easy craft.

May The Force Be With You

I made some light sabers for Meals on Wheels - they are actually stackable crayons that I bought at Target.

They are a May 4th treat for the Meals on Wheels recipients. I simply packaged them in pretzel bags.

The pretzel bags can be purchased in the candy making section of  most craft stores.

I made some labels and added them to the pretzel bags. I also tied the top of the pretzel bag with a little black ribbon.

One of my favorite television shows is the Big Bang Theory! I never would have known about May 4th with out Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj!

Tennis Ball Sachets for a Charity Tennis Tournament

I made some tennis ball sachets - they are party favors for a charity tennis event.

Supply List:

lid from can of tennis balls

white pen

yellow felt

scissors

black embroidery thread

white embroidery thread

yellow embroidery thread

embroidery needle

sachet filler



Directions:

Trace the lid of a tennis ball can with a white pen onto the yellow felt and carefully cut out the circles.

On the front of the tennis ball - sew a white looped line in white and Penn in black thread.

Sew the front piece onto a yellow plain piece with yellow thread. Before sewing the tennis ball closed add some sachet filler. Then sew the tennis ball closed and tie off with a small knot.

I bought the sachet filler at Micheals. 

These tennis balls make great party favors. They can be kept in a tennis bag or a lingree drawer.

I placed them in cellophane bags and tied off with a black ribbon.

You could also make these sachets into baseballs with white felt and red thread or basketballs with orange felt and black thread.

Fall Themed Bracelets - Thanksgiving Party Favors

I started making some Fall themed bracelets for Thanksgiving party favors. These could also be made into napkin rings,

These are so fun to make - I spend the afternoon beading.

Supply List:

Stretch Magic elastic 

Beads in fall colors

One large bead for each bracelet

Scissors

Clear nail polish

Directions:

Cut a 10 or 11-inch piece of Stretch Magic and tie an odd bead about one inch onto the end of the string.

Start with the large bead and then add the fall themed beads. remove the odd end bead. When the bracelet is the desired sized tie off several times as close to the big bead as possible.

Add a dab or two of clear nail polish to the knot. Let the nail polish dry. Test the bracelet on your wrist. Then cut the ealastic as  close to the big bead as possible.

I also made some peace sign bracelets.

I was thinking of making some Christmas bracelets and tie them onto packages.

Mini Turkeys Made with Hershey Nuggets

These little Turkeys are so easy to make and I had a lot of Hershey nuggets leftover from when I made bats for Halloween and Bibles for religion class.

Supply List:

Hershey nuggets

Brown lunch bags

Brown card stock

Orange card stock

Brown printed scrapbook paper

Orange printed scrapbook paper

Green printed scrapbook paper

1 1/2 inch round punch

2 1/2 inch scalloped punch

Scissors

Google eyes

Small glue dots

Scotch tape

Directions:

Lay out your Hershey nuggets.

Cut strips of brown lunch bags - and cut into 1-inch by 3-inch strips and tape around the Hershey nugget.

Punch the brown card stock with the 1 1/2 -inch circle punch. Using small glue dots affix the goo ogle eyes and an orange beak.

Using a loop of scotch tape affix the head to the front of the Hershey nugget.

Cut out the patterned scrapbook paper with the scalloped punch. 

Cut the scalloped circles in half and tape them together in a staggered pattern. Using a tape loop apply the scalloped circles to the back of the Hershey nugget.

These were so simple to make and would be cute on a Thanksgiving table or to bring to the classroom for a little treat.

Indian Corn Candy Party Favor

I love making Thanksgiving treats. And I feel like Thanksgiving is an important holiday and often overlooked. The minute Halloween is over - Christmas decorations are everywhere! I am like Nordstrom - I will not decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

Supply List:

Fall colored Sixlets

Pretzel bags

Brown lunch bags

Scissors

Twine

Tags

Directions:

Fill each pretzel bag about 1/2 way with the sixlets and tie with twine.

Cut lunch bag into 5" square pieces.. Roll the brown lunch bag into a ball and flatten several times.

Cut lunch bag into strips leaving 1/2 inch connected at the bottom of the square.

 Wrap the brown paper around the pretzel bag and tie with an additional piece of twine.

 Tie the tag on and knot the twine. The tags can be store-bought or homemade.

Instead of Sixlets you could use Reese's pieces or fall colored m&m's.

Cream colored card stock

Orange patterned paper

Round punch

Scalloped punch

Double stick tape

Black pen

Hole punch

Directions:

Punch circles in cream card stock and scalloped circles in an orange pattern scrapbook paper. Add the two circles with some double stick tape. Write on the tag anything about Thanksgiving or being grateful. You could even use these for place cards and write your guests names.

Punch the tags with a hole punch.

Happy Thanksgiving! These would make fun classroom, sports team or neighbor little gifts.

Mom Sachets

I make these almost every year. They are the perfect Mother's Day party favor. I try to make them in different colors every year. They look really pretty in a basket or added to the top of a gift. Since they are all hand sewn they would be perfect for older kids to make.

Supply List:

Felt in a spring color

Coordinating embroidery thread

Coordinating button

Needle

Scissors

Two different sized heart cookie cutters

Black pen

Dried Lavender or other sachet filing


Directions:

Trace the hearts with a pen onto the felt. Each sachet needs two large hearts and one small heart.

I used this dried lavender to fill the sachets - I thought it was perfect with the purple felt.

On the small heart hand sew a MOM with a button for the "O." Then sew the small heart onto a big heart. Before the heart is completely sewn together add a tablespoon of the lavender.

Then sew the two large hearts together and before it is completely sewn shut add enough dried lavender to fill the heart and finish sewing closed.

These are so easy to make and a perfect party favor. Mom can put this in a drawer or linen cabinet. 

Tina's birthday is near Mother's Day  - so I added a Mother's Day sachet to her gift. 

Kentucky Derby Treats for Meals on Wheels

I made some horse necklaces for a Meals on Wheels Kentucky Derby treat. This year the Kentucky Derby is on May 7th.

Supply List:

Small plastic horses

Small flowers

Glue gun/glue sticks

Exacto knife

Screw eyes

Thin ribbon

Directions:


I bought my horses from Oriental Trading Company because I needed to make 50 necklaces. But they sell the horses in the tubes at any craft or party store - they tubes have 8 horses and are about $10. Be sure to use a craft store coupon.

Using an exacto knife twist a small hole and then twist in the screw eye.

I bought the screw eyes in the wood section of Hobby Lobby.

I also hot glued a little flower onto each horse.

I also found the little flowers at Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook section.

Now the horses are ready for a long piece of ribbon or twine to make  a necklace.
