Carmel and Chocolate Apples

MaryAnne is my very first guest blogger! She is sharing her Carmel Chocolate Apple recipe.

She bought 6 Granny Smith apples and washed them and took the stems off. Then she pushed a wooden stick into the center of the apple. Note: MaryAnne purchased these sticks at Michael's.

Next she melted a bag of caramels with 2 teaspoons of water in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Note: removing the caramel wrappers can be tedious - have your kids help you!

Dip your apples into the caramel and use a spoon to get the caramel to the top of the apple. Then set the caramel apple on a cookie sheet covered in foil and sprayed with Pam. If you don't spray the foil with Pam the apples will stick.

Put the caramel apples in the refrigerator so that the caramel can harden.

Once the caramel has hardened - start to melt some chocolate and then dip the caramel apples into the chocolate about half way - you may need to use a spoon if you want the chocolate to go higher. Then sprinkle the caramel chocolate apples with crushed Oero's, chocolate sprinkles, peanut butter m&m's, crushed Heath bars or anything else that you love! It's all good!

Put the apples back into the refrigerator  until they harden up again. Then you can package them in clear cellophane bags and tie with a cute ribbon.

Thank you for sharing MaryAnne!
