Happy New Year

Happy New Year's Eve! According to Southern folklore dating back to the civil war black eyed peas should be the first food eaten on New Year's day for luck and prosperity throughout the year ahead.

No one in my family wants anything to do with eating back eyed peas! So I have been using them for decorations!

Here are some votives:

Hopefully these votives will also bring our family good luck!

If you are having a New Year's Eve party - this would be a fun and inexpensive decoration.

I bought two bags of black eyed peas yesterday at Ralph's. They were .99 a bag. You can't beat that!

Later today we are making another (non-cooking) project with black eyed peas! Check back!
