Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn

I found this recipe on the cookie&cups.com website. Cookies and Cups found the recipe in the newest book from Our Best Bites - "Savoring the Seasons."

I decided to cut the recipe in half and put the popcorn in glass jars to give away. But this recipe would also look nice in cellophane bags.

I simply used cupcake liners to the tops of the jars and decorated with a thin ribbon and rhinestone sticker.

Ingredients:

1 bag of microwave popcorn - I used kettle corn

1 cup salted peanuts

2 cups mini peanut butter cups

1 1/2 cups peanut butter chips

1/3 cup melted semi-sweet chocolate

Directions:

Pop the microwave popcorn, remove the unpopped kernels. Put the popcorn in a big bowl. Add the peanuts and mini peanut butter cups to the popcorn.

The mini peanut butter cups are sold at most grocery stores and Target. They also sell them at Trader Joe's - under the TJ brand.

Melt the peanut butter chips using your preferred method (microwave, double boiler etc.).

Pour the melted peanut butter chips into the popcorn mixture and gently toss until all the popcorn, peanuts and mini peanut butter cups are coated with the melted peanut butter chips.

Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper and pour the mixture on the parchment paper. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate and put it in a zipper top bag. Squeeze the chocolate to one end and cut off a small slit and drizzle the chocolate over the popcorn mixture.

Let the popcorn mixture set for about an hour before packaging in jars or cellophane bags.

I used two different sized cupcake liners to decorate the tops of the jars.

I will be giving out jars of this Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn to my neighbors tomorrow.

This was an easy and delicious recipe. It would make a fantastic party favor for a movie themed party. Make this for the Peanut Butter lovers in your life!

Basketball Treats

I made some treats for the basketball team. Popcorn with team colors and some basketball m&m and Reeses pieces tubes.

I put the popcorn bags in a basketball basket.

Our team colors are blue and orange - so I sorted through some bags of m&m's and pulled out the blue and orange and added them to the pre-made popcorn I bought at Trader Joe's.

I usually make my own popcorn with chocolate drizzle. Put I knew I was going to be pressed for time so I bought a few bags of this Kettle Corn.

Once I mixed the Kettle Corn and m&m's - I put a handful of the mixture into little bags. Tied them with an orange ribbon and put them in a basket. So easy!

I also made some m&m and Reese's pieces tubes. I made some with the brown m&m's left over from the popcorn project and the rest with orange and brown Reese's pieces.

The basketball on the top is from a piece of scrapbook paper - I just cut out a few basketballs and taped them to the top of the tube.

These would also make great party favors and you could adapt them to any sport or team color!

Easy Easter Popcorn

This is an easy and fun project to make! Kids can help! First pop two bags of microwave popcorn and remove all of the unpopped kernels. 

You will need:

Microwave popcorn

Yellow chocolate melts

Pastel sprinkles

Cellophane bags

Pastel ribbon

I bought everything except the popcorn at Michael's. A Hobby Lobby is going to open near my house in May and I am super excited! Sorry! I just had to share!

Put the popcorn into a large bowl or dish. Now melt some chocolate. You can melt white chocolate  and tint it yellow with food coloring - or use the yellow chocolate melts from Michael's. Carefully pour your yellow chocolate onto the popcorn and start sprinkling with some pastel sprinkles. Using a spoon start mixing the popcorn so that each piece is covered with chocolate and sprinkles. Let this mixture cool completely before you package them into little bags.

Once they are packaged into little bags and tied with a pastel ribbon - you can put them in an Easter basket.  Am I right? So easy!
