Charlie Brown Peg Dolls for Meals on Wheels

I made these Charlie Brown peg dolls for a Meals on Wheels Valentine project.  I packaged them with a glitter heart and a tag that said "Good Grief it's Valentine's Day!"

I think they came out super cute - but since I was making 50 a deleted a few steps. Also because I was making 50 peg dolls I ordered them from Amazon.

Supply List:

men shaped peg dolls

yellow paint

black paint

sharp pencil

small paint brushes

black fine tip Sharpie pen



Directions:

Always save pieces of cardboard to use when painting peg dolls.

Paint the body with two coats of yellow paint. Let the paint dry in between coats.

Using a sharp pencil draw the zig zag shape on the middle of the body. If you have extra time the zig zag could be moved up and a small black band could be painted on the bottom which would replicate shorts. Because I was making 50 I skipped the shorts step.

Using the black paint and a very thin teeny tiny paint brush paint inside the pencil zig zag lines. This took a really long time. 

Another step I skipped was painting the head with flesh toned paint. I used a fine tip black Sharpie to draw the face directly onto the wooden head.

Lately I have been sewing a lot of Meals on Wheels projects with felt and I wanted to do something different. And I do love a little peg doll. 

I am going to bring these to the Meals on Wheels office tomorrow and then start working on a March themed party favor.

Handmade Charlie Brown Christmas Ornaments

One of our family's favorite Christmas movies is "A Charlie Brown Christmas." It is also the soundtrack that we listen to when we decorate the tree and open presents on Christmas morning.

 One year we took our kids to Knott's Berry Farm when they were very young. Before we left we took the kids into the giant gift shop and told them that they could pick out a treat. Our son picked out the Charlie Brown t-shirt and wore it until it was threadbare. At one point he refused to wear shoes - but I took him to Nordstrom and showed him the shoes that Charlie Brown wore and sure enough he wore his Charlie Brown shoes with his Charlie Brown shirt.

So I was looking on Pinterest one day and saw these adorable Charlie Brown ornaments on alittlegray.blogspot.com/2012/11/charlie-brown-christmas-ornaments.html. I fell in love with her felt ornaments and decided to make my own. The only problem was that she hand embroidered the faces but used a sewing machine for everything else. I do not have a sewing machine. So I hand sewed my entire project. I followed the A Little Gray's tutorial and improvised. I could have asked one of my friends if I could come over and use their sewing machine. Actually I think I only have one friend with a sewing machine (FYI it is Julie!). But I get frustrated with the needle and the bobbin and the curved lines of the faces would probably send me over the edge. If you want to learn how to make these ornaments - click on the above link. Just cutting out all of the pieces was a long process.

However,  I had a wonderful and relaxing time sewing these little ornaments. I worked on them for one entire rainy day (no tennis match) so I crafted all day! Plus I don't like to drive in the rain unless absolutely  necessary.

I went a little overboard and made a few extra sets to give away.

I just love it when Linus tells Charlie Brown the true meaning of Christmas. Because I sometimes (no I always)  think that the true meaning of Christmas is lost when everyone is shopping and running around. Instead we should have quiet time everyday to pray and reflect.

Hockey Stick! My little Charlie Brown is now 15 and 6 feet tall. He towers over his older sister. Where did the time go?

Peanuts Stickers for My Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

I bought these stickers yesterday at Michael's - I am going to use them for my Charlie Brown themed Thanksgiving. I have quite the little pile of Peanuts items. These stickers are made from heavy cardstock. So they would look cute on an invitation, place card or on a napkin ring. I haven't quite decided yet!

I love the expression on Sally's face!

I still need to find some Snoopy stickers!

More Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Party Favors

I bought a bunch of these at Michael's on Super Sale for .80 and I can't decide if they should be used for a Thanksgiving Day craft or in the Thanksgiving party favor bag!

These little sun catcher kits can also be made into ornaments. They come with little pots of paint and a small brush.

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

We love Charlie Brown movies at our house. This year we want to have a Charlie Brown themed Thanksgiving.

But you can't just have a Charlie Brown themed Thanksgiving on the last minute. It will take one whole year of planning. Really? Yes. So whenever I see any Charlie Brown themed items I am going to pick them up and put them in a special box. So far I have bought some Charlie Brown post-its from the Target dollar section.

Happiness is.....Having someone who listens. How sweet. These will go in the party favor bag.

I bought a bunch of these Charlie Brown themed wooden coloring projects on super sale at Michael's and they were .89 each.

I could use these for the party favor bags or a Thanksgiving Day project.

This one is my favorite — when Charlie Brown kicks the football.
