Tennis Ball Sachets for a Charity Tennis Tournament

I made some tennis ball sachets - they are party favors for a charity tennis event.

Supply List:

lid from can of tennis balls

white pen

yellow felt

scissors

black embroidery thread

white embroidery thread

yellow embroidery thread

embroidery needle

sachet filler

Directions:

Trace the lid of a tennis ball can with a white pen onto the yellow felt and carefully cut out the circles.

On the front of the tennis ball - sew a white looped line in white and Penn in black thread.

Sew the front piece onto a yellow plain piece with yellow thread. Before sewing the tennis ball closed add some sachet filler. Then sew the tennis ball closed and tie off with a small knot.

I bought the sachet filler at Micheals.

These tennis balls make great party favors. They can be kept in a tennis bag or a lingree drawer.

I placed them in cellophane bags and tied off with a black ribbon.

You could also make these sachets into baseballs with white felt and red thread or basketballs with orange felt and black thread.

Earth Day Bracelets

In honor of Earth Day - I made some bracelets. Only using items that I had in my craft cabinet.

I made some recycle bracelets.

To make these bracelets - I found some ABC beads and used them to spell out environmental messages. I also found some Earth beads that I probably bought last year. I simply strung the beads and letters on beading elastic.

Every day should be Earth day! Recycle, reuse, repurpose.

Teaching 1st Grade Religion Class

Today  I substitute taught  first grade Religion class - they were so well behaved, such good readers and a lot of fun. I wanted to take them all home with me!

We were still learning about the Easter story.

I printed out a lot of coloring and worksheets.

We also learned about John 3;16 - with this coloring sheet.

I also made them some John 3;16 candy bars.

I simply took some Hershey bars.

And I wrapped the candy bars in heavy white card stock.

Then I taped the John 3;16 patch onto the candy bar. I made the patch on another log post.

At the end of class we played Holy Hangman and the kids loved it!

Felt Eggs With Little Pockets

Today I made some felt eggs with little pockets. The pockets can hold candy or gift cards. And if your family member or friend has a short name it can be sewn onto the egg.

Supply List:

egg cookie cutter or template

white felt

embroidery thread

needle

scissors

small beads

bits of lace and rick-rack

small buttons

glue gun

glue sticks

Directions:

Cut eggs out of white felt. Cut one egg in half with a zig-zag pattern.

Decorate the bottom zig=zag piece with lace, rick-rack, beads and buttons.

Sew the zig-zag piece onto the front of the egg.

Sew the name of the recipient on the top of the egg.

The back of the egg is a little messy.

So hot glue another felt egg onto the back of the egg. This covers up the messy stitches.

Now the candy can be added.

Since I gave up sweets for Lent - I had to decline the free sample. Bummer, I know.

I taped the See's egg to the back of the felt egg. And added the lollipop and See's small chocolate eggs inside the little pocket. Gift cards can also be added to the pocket.

Happy Easter to You!

Beauty and the Beast - Belle Bracelets

My daughter's favorite Disney movie was "Beauty and the Beast" we must have watched it every day for 6 months in a row. So of course now that she is 24 - we went to see the movie and it was awesome. Before we went to the movie - I gave her bracelets to wear and give to her friends.

Supply List:

yellow beads

rose bead

beading elastic

small blue or clear beads

scissors

jewelry glue

Directions:

I bought the beads on 55% off all strung beads day. Yeah me!

The Stretch Magic and jewelry glue are in the bead section as well. If I am out of jewelry glue I use clear nail polish.

Step 1 - Cut a 12" piece of elastic beading thread. Tie and odd colored bead about two inches on the thread.

Step 2 - Thread about 7" of the yellow seed beads.

Step 3 - Add a small blue or clear bead, the rose and another blue or clear bead and tie the bracelet off with five or six tight knots.

Step 4 - Using the jewelry glue add a small tab over the knot.

Step5 - Cut off the extra string- as close to the knot as possible.

It's the tale as old as time - Beauty and the Beast.

John 3:16 Patch

This is a wonderful craft to make this Lenten season. These patches can be used as bookmarks if you choose to sew a long brown ribbon to the back of the patch. The patch can be sewn or glued onto your Bible study bag or notebook. I also think they would be a nice addition to an Easter basket.

Supply List:

cream felt - cut into 2" circles

brown felt - cut into 3" circles

black or brown marker

brown embroidery thread

cross bead or button

embroidery needle

scissors

Directions:

Step 1 - cut out 2" cream felt circle and write John 3:16 on the felt with a black or brown marker.

Step 2 - sew over the John 3:16 with brown embroidery thread.

Step 3 - Sew in a cross bead or button.

Step 4 - cut dark brown felt into 3" circles.

Step 5 - Sew the cream circle onto the dark brown circle with a running stitch.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
