I made some simple St. Nick cookies for 1st grade Religion class this week. The cookies are made out of Milanos. However, they can also be made with Nutter Butters. I have a few kids with nut allergies so I used Milanos.
Ingredients:
Milanos or Nutter Butters
White melting chocolate
Red sanding sugar
Red cinnamon candy
Mini chocolate chips
Directions:
Melt the white chocolate. While the chocolate is melting line a rimmed cookie sheet with parchment paper. Lay the Milanos out on the parchment paper.
Dip the top 1/3 of the cookie into the white chocolate and sprinkle liberally with red sanding sugar.
Let the red portion set. And dip the bottom third into white melted chocolate.
Using a drop of melted white chocolate add the mini chocolate chip eyes and red hot of the nose.
The final step is to add a few spoonfuls of the melted chocolate to a zipper top bag. Twist the bag so the the melted chcolate is at one end. Snip a small pie off the corner and make little crosses on top of the red sugar.
The kids loved the cookies. This is what Christmas is about - trying to teach 1st graders about the true meaning of Christmas.
Starting tomorrow I will be posting 12 days of handmade ornaments - so keep checking back and tell your crafty friends to check out my ornament posts!
