Ladybugs for Meals on Wheels

I have been making some Ladybugs for Meals on Wheels. This has been a labor intensive project, many steps, but super easy. I like to craft while I watch my favorite television shows.

When I make something for Meals on Wheels I have to make 50!

Supply List:

Black scrapbook or construction paper

circle punch 1 or 1 1/2" round

soda tabs

red Sharpie

black Sharpie

black wire

sharp scissors

black seed beads

small google eyes

glue gun and glue sticks

red scrapbook paper

small plastic bags

small white labels

black pen

mini ladybug stickers

Directions:

Cut wire into 1 1/2" pieces and wrap a small black seed bead around each end.

Punch out some black circles - if you don't have a black punch just trace a small shot or juice glass. Attach the beaded wire to the back of the black circle using a small drop of hot glue.

Using the red Sharpie completely color the soda tabs red. When the red has dried use the black Sharpie to make the dots. Heat up the glue gun and attach the soda tabs and google eyes to the round black circle.

They look so cute! Once the hot glue is dry - the Ladybugs can be packaged.

Cut the red scrapbook paper to fit inside the small plastic bag. Then pop the ladybug into the bag.

I added a label and mini Ladybug sticker to complete the little soda tab Ladybug.

Fruit Salad

Now that it is Springtime - I almost always have fresh fruit and fruit salads in the fridge. This fruit salad came out so pretty and colorful.

I used strawberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwi and pineapple. 

I also added the juice of two limes and a couple tablespoons of honey. This is a perfect salad to serve with morning eggs or lunchtime sandwich.

Treats for the 5th Grade Religion Class

If you have been following me on this blog or Instagram - you will notice that on Wednesday afternoons I have been substitute teaching a 5th grade Religion class. Today is the last Religion class of the year. So I made some cute bracelets from a bead kit that I bought from www.orientaltradingcompany.com. The bracelets say, "I am Strong with God." And they have a little silver cross.

The kit came with everything - string, pony beads, alphabet beads and the little cross. They were super simple to make.

I also made the kids some m&m tubes. The orange little tag says, "Pray." I wanted to remind them that they should be praying all summer. Before we have snack (yes, I always bring a small snack) someone has to say Grace.

These are just little take home treats.

And I also want to tell them that I will be praying for them to have a happy, healthy and faith filled summer.

Getting Ready for Mother's Day

I started getting ready for Mother's Day yesterday by making some quick party favors.

I made some m&m tubes with some little heart "Mom" tags.

I just used some blue themed scrapbook paper that was already in my craft cabinet.

Then I wrapped some Hershey bars in blue scrapbook paper. And once again I cut out some hearts and wrote, "Mom" with some alphabet beads.

I also bought my mom and mother-in-law some Jo Malone!

I am hosting a Mother's Day dinner at my house - I ordered a beautiful cake from a new bakery. I hope I remember to post a picture of the cake and some of the food I make for dinner.

Another Tennis Party Favor

Tomorrow I am going to another tennis party. So when I bought the yellow candies that I put in the little jars for the tennis party a few weeks ago - I bought extra yellow candies for the tennis party tomorrow. And I made these cute little candy tubes.

I filled some 1 x 8 inch cellophane bags with some yellow six lets that I bought at Party City.

I punched out some yellow circles. I used the punch that was just a little bigger than a quarter.

I added a tennis ball sticker to the yellow circle. And taped the yellow circle onto the yellow candy tube.

This particular tennis team members also won a "good sportsmanship" award.

So everyone got a "good sportsmanship" tennis bag or luggage tag. 

Love One Another Hershey Bars

This Wednesday I am substitute teaching my favorite 5th grade class. The lesson is "Love one Another." So of course I had to make them a special take home treat that reinforces the lesson.

I always wrap the candy bars so that you can see the side of the Hershey bars.

I started wrapping the Hershey bars with red and white scrapbook and wrapping paper. Then I was looking for some red paper to cut out hearts - I couldn't believe it but I didn't have any solid red paper. So I decided to use navy blue paper and glue heart buttons and beads on the navy hearts.

I also handwrite a little label that said, "Love one Another."

Gift Wrap with a Rustic Elegance

I wrapped a birthday gift for my sweet friend Tina. I call this gift wrap style "rustic elegance."

The 'rustic" is the brown craft paper and twine.

The "elegance" is the rhinestone buttons and ribbon.

And I even used some alphabet beads to write out Tina's name. 

It is fun to open a beautifully wrapped package. 

Buttons often go on sale at JoAnne's Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. When they are on sale I like to stock up on all sorts of fun buttons to glue on to packages.

I think Tina will love her gift! Happy Birthday to my sweet friend.

Sheep Rice Crispy Treats

This week I am teaching the lesson of the Good Shepard (John 10:11-18) so I made the kids some little sheep treats.  These were so easy to make! I actually had everything at my house that I needed for this project.


Supply List:

Rice crispy treats

white chocolate

 Jet puffed mallow bits

large round piece of chocolate

candy eyes

pink flower sprinkle

Directions:

Melt the white chocolate.  I used store-bought Rice Crispy treats (shh! Don't tell anyone). I cut each Rice Crispy treat in half and laid them out on parchment paper.

Dip each Rice Crispy treat into the melted white chocolate and immediately sprinkle them with the Jet-Puffed Mallow Bits.

The Mallow Bits can be found in the baking aisle or near the hot chocolate in the grocery store.

Using some melted white chocolate glue the candy eyes and pink nose onto the round piece of chocolate. In a pinch you could use a Hershey's Kiss with the point cut off. Then "glue" the little face onto the sheep body with some additional melted chocolate.

The kids loved these treats. And they were a great reminder of our Good Shepard lesson.

Earth Day Rings

Today I  made some Earth Day rings. I am substitute teaching Religion class this Wednesday - which also happens to be Earth Day. And when I was emailed the lesson - the last part of the lesson was taking care of the Earth that God gave us. So I made the kids little Earth Day rings.

I simply hot glued some "Earth" beads onto some little silver rings.

I found the little silver rings in the wedding section at Michael's. And I have a ton left over - so perhaps I will plan a Meals on Wheels ring project.

Every day should be Earth Day. Reuse, recycle and repurpose. Less is more.

Tennis Team Party Favors

I made some party favors for a teens team party this Tuesday. I happened to have everything at my house for this project except the yellow candy. I had the little jars left over from some little project, the yellow paint leftover from the tennis ball Christmas ornament and the yellow balls from a very long time ago!

The first thing that I did was paint the silver jar lids with several coasts of yellow paint.

I save pieces of cardboard to use for my paint projects.

I bought these tennis ball cupcake toppers along time ago! And I had a ton left over form the cupcake project.

So I broke the bottom portion off! So that I could hot glue the tennis ball on top of the lid.

While the paint was drying and the hot glue setting up - I went to Party City to buy some yellow candy to fill all the little jars.

I filled the little jars with the yellow Sixlets.

Then I found the perfect basket and put all of the little jars in the basket to bring on Tuesday. I feel so organized. 

I had the little jars left over from another project - but I am pretty sure they came from the wedding favor section at Michael's. If you did not want to paint the lids you could cover the top of the lid with a round piece of scrapbook paper and hot glue a piece of ribbon around the lid.

Tennis Anyone?
